What is: Mothers Moving Families Forward

MMFF is a: Transportation, employment, and family stability for single mothers in Greenville County

Every day, single mothers across Greenville County face the same quiet barrier standing between them and a better life: a way to get there. Getting to work. Getting a child to school. Getting to the doctor. Getting to the pharmacy for a prescription that cannot wait.

Mothers Moving Families Forward removes that barrier by employing single mothers as trained, professional drivers who transport other single mother households to the jobs, schools, clinics, and services that lead toward stability. It is a jobs program and an access program at once, built to move families forward together

The Need in Greenville County

Greenville County is growing fast, but growth has not reached every family equally. Behind the county's strong headline numbers is a real and rising affordability gap, and single mothers and their children carry a disproportionate share of it.

More than 81,000 Greenville County residents cannot consistently afford basic needs such as housing, food, childcare, and transportation.

An estimated 16,796 children ages 0 to 17 are living in poverty in Greenville County today.

ALICE households, families that are employed but still cannot afford the basics, have grown 48 percent since 2010.

Why transportation is the barrier that breaks the cycle

Poverty is rarely one event. It is a condition that compounds across years unless something interrupts it. A mother who cannot get to work loses income. A child who cannot get to school loses learning time. A family that cannot get to a clinic loses ground on health. Transportation is rarely named as the root cause of poverty, yet it is often the last mile between a family and the job, the classroom, or the doctor that could change its path.

Mothers Moving Families Forward exists to close that last mile, so that every child keeps a place in the classroom and every mother keeps a path toward stable income.
